Social Workers work with individuals, families, groups and communities to enhance their individual and collective well-being.

As a Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist, I aim to help empower people to develop skills and connect to the resources that they need so they can support themselves in achieving their emotional and spiritual goals. Social Work looks at not only the individual but how their challenges connect to the broader social systems that they exist within. ⁣

The uniqueness of social work practice is in the blend of particular values, knowledge and skills, including the use of relationship as the basis of all interventions and respect for the client’s choice and involvement.

Animism is a way of understanding the world that roots back to ancient times and honours the spirit and energy in all things. ⁣There is no one way to be animist or practice animism as it is a unique experience for each individual and community.

We humans are part of nature and therefore we are impacted by nature. Nature is our greatest healer and teacher.

By connecting with our earth through rituals, mythology and other earth honouring practices, we can heal and rediscover our roots. Understanding our roots, connection to nature and ancestral past are all significant pieces to understanding ourself and our place in this world. ⁣

Animism is the birthplace of religion. It is a modern term that speaks to the way life was when humans lives connected with nature and the spirit realms. I use cards , spirit bridge journeys, energy work, sacred stories and real life magic to connect people to their subconscious self, each other and their spiritual path.

More Frequently Asked Questions

Social work and psychotherapy are regulated health professions in Ontario, however they are not currently covered under OHIP.
Many extended health benefits/employer benefits do cover social work services (typically in your health and dental insurance package). I encourage you to speak with your insurance provider about counselling services provided by a registered social worker and psychotherapist to determine your eligibility and approved rates of coverage. As of 2012 psychotherapy services provided by registered social workers are now recognized as an income tax deductible medical expense by Revenue Canada.

The fee per therapy session is based on the standard rates for psychotherapists in Hamilton, which tend to range between $100 and $250 per session depending on the therapist's education and experience. I charge $130 for intakes (approximately  2 hours long) and $120 for a 1 - 1.5 hour session. If finances are a barrier for you, we can explore sliding scare options.

My professional code of ethics, under the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, clearly defines that all information you share with me is confidential and will not be communicated, directly or indirectly, to anyone without your informed and written consent. The law states that there are rare exceptions to this rule, which we will discuss during our initial consultation.  Although our therapy sessions will be kept confidential, You may also reveal anything that we have discussed in therapy to anyone you want.

I respect and honour all beliefs and practices that do not harm or infringe on the rights or safety of others. I have been involved (online) with the Web of Life 'Church' , based out of Tuscon Arizona for 3 years.  This 'church' is not a place, as sacred space is whatever we make it. Web of Life is an animist church that supports people in dispelling the beliefs and practices that have been forced upon humans through colonization. The trainings I have done with Web of Life have been about discovering my own way, rather than being told what to believe. Below are the ways Animism is experienced by the friends of Web of Life. This is a living document that has changed over time.  These words resonate for me but I do not insist that other share the same beliefs. I am here to support you in discovering your own path.
