Back in 2017 I quit my “normal” full time social work job before I even felt ready. I was completely burnt out, and I knew going back to that basement office would mean agreeing to a life that didn’t feel like mine. (Long story)

Before I left, I already had a vision about helping people in a more holistic, creative and earth/spirit honouring way. I even built websites for it: Green Tree Project. Butterfly & Cactus. Early seeds.

When I finally walked away, I was $10,000 in debt and could barely get out of bed for months. But I kept going. I wanted to find a way of working that felt true to who I was. I created Quest to Confidence and Soulpreneur Illumination. I found my first counselling space. 2018 was a wild year.. too much to capture here! That’s a story for another time maybe.

Somewhere in the middle of all that, Earth in Sky came to me. I saw it as a collective experience, though I didn’t yet know what it wanted to be. Around that same time, I discovered the term animism. Which described something that I already felt connected to. Therapeutic Animism was born, and Earth in Sky waited patiently in the background.

Now I’m out of debt, with savings, surrounded by incredible people. Thankful for the teachers, collaborators, mirrors I’ve met along the way. This new space is filled with my heart, my travels, my art, my story. But it’s not mine, it’s just this world from my vantage point, influenced by so many cultures, people, places, landscapes, plants, animals, guides.

Has it been easy? In some ways, yes! There have been blessings that came almost effortlessly.
And it’s also been hard.
People have come and gone. I’ve grieved, faced shadows, worked through insecurities. I got sober from alcohol. I learned how to meet life without numbing it.

Every loss, every breakthrough, every small act of faith has shaped Earth in Sky just as much as the beautiful moments have.

This new space is on the same street where I quit that job all those years ago. Full circle.

Walking the Wentworth stairs I used to climb in my twenties. But back as a new version of me as I come towards 40.

Welcome to The Air Temple, a space devoted to breath, communication, and the unseen forces that connect all living systems.

Air represents communication, perspective, and the unseen exchanges that shape our nervous systems.
Maybe air means something different to you! I welcome your reflections.

When we breathe, we participate in a cycle that connects every living being.

For much of my life, “mental health” felt like a personal project, something to fix or maintain inside myself.
But over time, and through this work, I’ve come to see it differently.

Mental health is collective health.
It’s shaped by our environment, our communities, and the stories we’re told about what it means to be “well.”

We’re living in an age of industrial acceleration, with fast food, fast thoughts, and fast everything. Many of us are feeling the effects that disconnection creates.

Disconnection from one another.
From the land that nourishes us.
From the stories of our ancestors.
From the natural rhythms of what it means to be human.

When the world feels fragmented, our minds often mirror that fragmentation.
Healing begins when we remember our belonging, to community, to Earth, and to the energy of being alive.

It’s important not to blame ourselves for struggling in a disconnected world.
We were not meant to carry all of this alone.
We need love to heal.

And still, it is our responsibility to believe in a more connected future and to play whatever role we can in creating it.

Today, on World Mental Health Day, I’m honouring mental health not as a diagnosis or something to achieve,
but as a relationship between self, others, and the living world that sustains us.

The following is a long reflections about bringing more fun into my life and work while sounding very serious about it.😅 Classic Virgo Sun and Moon.

Currently self-awareness and play are my top love languages. 💕

I learned pretty young how to be the one who listens, the one who holds space when things fall apart. It gave me purpose and value, and over time it became my work in the world. I’ve spent most of my life showing up as the grounded helper, the social worker who has it all together (or at least tries to give off that illusion).

But the truth is, I don’t always have it “all together”. Surprise! Not really for those that know me I’m sure. I can be deeply emotional. I’ve struggled with big, messy feelings (like deep grief and anger that resist vulnerability) and learned how to have a kinder relationship with them. In actually allowing all our parts to exist with love and acceptance, there’s a more full way we can actually “have it all together” instead of just preforming it.

Working with kids for over ten years helped me more than I ever expected. It showed me how to be in loving presence with my own inner child who just wanted to be seen, to play, to feel safe. Supporting her has helped me support others.

I’ve also noticed how easy it is for our gifts to grow out of our old coping patterns. The same instincts that made me a good helper came from learning to manage chaos early on. Those patterns can even look like success from the outside. But healing, for me, has meant loosening that grip and letting something new take root.

Now I’m making more space for creativity, imagination, and play in my work. That’s how Earth in Sky came to life! It’s a place where adults can reconnect with their inner child, feel deeply, and remember that healing can also be curious, expressive, and alive.

There’s room for everything here: the tears, the anger, the confusion, the joy. We transmute what’s heavy together. I may have training and experience, but I’m also just a human on this path. Some days I’m holding space, other days I’m the one being held.

Gratitude for every human who steps into this work with me. Thank you all for being here on this Earth in Sky. 🤍

Circle of Reciprocity 🌿

This matters to me because I don’t believe healing should depend on income.
The world already asks too much from people who are struggling.

At Earth in Sky, the Circle of Reciprocity is a way of doing things differently, learning from natural symbols. It’s pay-what-you-can, rooted in trust that everything lands where it needs to.

When someone pays full price or uses their benefits, it helps cover another person’s reduced rate. When someone pays less, they’re still contributing to the whole.

It’s not about discounts or charity, it’s about collective balance.
Money becomes energy that moves through community instead of stopping at profit.

I also do my best to be mindful with deciding where to invest the money that moves through my experience as well. I choose to contribute to local businesses when possible, thrift or find things that are being given away rather than buying new.

This approach reminds me that healing isn’t just a service, it’s a shared ecosystem.
And when we trust that flow, everyone gets what they need in the right way, at the right time.

This matters to me because I don’t believe healing should depend on income.

Which creature self is showing up in you today?
The one holding space or the one asking to be held?

I’ve been thinking and feeling a lot recently about the experience of support.

We all want to feel loved and cared for, but so many of us are struggling to even offer this to ourselves.

Our sense of community has been eroding for quite some time and in many ways it seems to be getting worse.

But! I also see so much love in the world. So much desire for connection and repair. I see people showing up and doing the work to learn how to look after themselves and each other (plants, animals, land included).

We require reciprocity - taking turns in caring for each other and receiving support as needed.

If you’ve been too self focused, it may be time to find ways to help others.
If you’ve been too busy helping others, it may be time to ask for support.

We are meant to exist in shared ecosystems, not to do it all alone all the time.
Even if it feels like you’re doing it alone, notice the ways you’re supported that perhaps you don’t realize.

Every day we are nourished by the food this planet provides. We have people working in jobs that allow us to live by providing their services.

Let’s say hello more to our fellow neighbours in whatever form they take… human, animal, plant, insect, wind, water, earth, sky, spirit.

My support is here if you need it and I’m so grateful to everyone that supports me when I need that too.

Being here in Playa del Carmen Mexico, I can feel and see many layers. Nature, Animist Maya traditions, Catholic symbolism, and capitalist tourism all coexist. It’s hard to say if they exist in harmony or not or if there can truly be harmony when there’s so much harm that has been done.

The land itself is ancient. I see ancient trees that some roads and buildings are built around, integrating them into the architecture . And then I’m made painfully aware that for other building to exist, so much had to be destroyed.

For the Maya, cenotes weren’t just swimming spots, they were sacred openings to Xibalba, the spirit world. Every tree, every stone, every animal carried a presence, a role in the greater web of life. That worldview still pulses quietly beneath the surface, held in the stories of the people, in rituals, in the way some people speak of the land. There’s a remembering that hasn’t been totally destroyed or forgotten.

Then came conquest. Catholicism didn’t just convert.. it erased, destroyed, renamed. Many Maya practices were forced underground or fused into something else for survival. Shrines today often show saints beside the old gods,

Then, capitalism brought a new wave of pressure. Playa is so alive with people selling objects, experiences, themselves.
Commodified spirituality.
Culture is repackaged and sold, much like it is in many tourist attractions around the world. Many locals work long hours in hospitality, barely able to afford to live in the city. And yet many feel like they’re “living the dream” to be here away from their small towns that many grew up in.

As a therapist working through an animist lens, I see these intersections. Healing isn’t just personal, it’s collective. The disconnection, burnout, and soul loss many of us feel are tied to these very systems that extract, colonize, and profit off life.

What keeps the people here heart centred is spirit in the many forms it takes!

May we remember what is real.
May we listen to each other, the elements, the animals, the unseen world.
May we continue to remember what really matters in this world and support ourselves and each other through love and awareness.

There is an ancient knowing within you, a thread that has never been severed only forgotten, waiting to be re-woven into the fabric of your being. Re-membering is not simply recalling; it is the sacred act of gathering the lost pieces, the disowned aspects, the silenced voices of your soul, and welcoming them back into belonging.

In the language of Therapeutic Animism, to re-member is to return to the great web to recognize yourself as an inseparable part of all that is. It is a healing beyond the self, one that dissolves the illusion of separation and restores coherence between body, mind, spirit, and the world around you.

The modern world fragments us, teaching us to forget. We are taught to view ourselves as isolated individuals, rather than as living expressions of the interconnected whole. But the forest does not forget the root. The river does not forget its source. And you when you listen can feel the whisper of your own belonging, calling you home.

Through Therapeutic Animism, we practice the art of re-membering. We attune to the land, the breath, the unseen rhythms that have always held us. We gather the forgotten, the wounded, the wild and the wise, and we weave them back into wholeness—into a self that is not just healed, but whole.

Your mental health and the chemicals around you are more connected than you might think.

Did you know that many everyday products—like cleaning supplies, skincare, and even some foods—contain chemicals that can impact your brain and nervous system?

I’m so grateful for the work I’ve been divinely guided to do. I see how supported I’ve been along the way to be positioned to be in this role. I’m actually so amazed at what my life has become as I’ve followed the guidance available to me. It has been an emotional journey, at times I’ve felt lost.. I’ve been in the dark wondering if I’ll ever see the light again. The inner sun always rises once more and I’m able to see why the times of uncertainty were necessary teachers on my path. The pain I’ve endured have been blessings and integral parts of my journey.

Each trip and journey I take teaches me more about myself and life.

I had a profound moment during this journey with my mom - an unmistakable sign that my aunt who died in 2021 was present with me.. More than that I felt the love of this universe, the prime creator, our oneness. I had stood upon a bridge earlier that day, the day after her birthday.. I asked for a sign and it was given in the most magical way.

Something in me shifted in that moment on the eastern peak of Madeira island. A song connected to her and I, a rainbow, a found book with a message of forgiveness. All in divine alignment. I cried tears of a deep inner knowing that we are connected to something so much more than what this original physical realm seems to be.

I have been praying for some softening in my heart and I truly felt blessed in this last day by a gift from the divine. A layer of fear dissolved in a moment. An openness that I haven’t felt in months.

My human self has been fearful.
My higher self knows how safe I truly am and how much of our life is a story, an illusion created for our awakening.

These words come from my highest self.
Many times I’m in the messy humanness of myself.. sad, sacred, angry, disassociated.

I’m thankful for this time of reprieve.

May you feel the love that is always available.

My in home meeting space!

I’ve had a vision of having a space where I live and work from. Filled with sunlight, plants, outdoor space. Eventually I’d love to have space for an outdoor fire where we can make lots of noise and not worry about the neighbours.

Working from my little apartment is part of me embracing that dream and starting with what I have available to me.

Working from home also allows me to have the freedom to be mobile as I have some dreams in the works around doing more travelling while I continue to support fellow humans.

Working from home also allows me to have the freedom to be mobile as I have some dreams in the works around doing more travelling while I continue to support fellow humans.

So grateful to be able to meet with fellow humans outside for the work I do.

Recently I got rid of my office and now my office is in my home and outside. I loved that little office space and feel some grief around letting it go. But I know this was the right decision for me with what my intentions are moving forward in life. I feel free and open for what’s next!

Recently, the external grey layer has been falling away to reveal the pink stone underneath.

When I was a kid I believed that we lived in a world of magic. As I got older, I felt disappointed that the magical world I once believed in wasn’t what I thought it was.

Symbiosis of Souls 🌱

In the whisper of the ancient trees,
Where roots entwine with memories,
The earth and humans softly blend,
In a dance that has no end.

Veins of oak and veins of flesh,
Pulse with rhythms, intertwined and fresh,
Heartbeats echo through the soil,
Merging spirits, no longer foil.

Skyward branches, arms outstretched,
Embrace the winds, with spirits fetched,
Leaves flutter, sharing secrets old,
To human ears, the tales unfold.

Eyes of hawk and human gaze,
Through the mists of morning haze,
In their glances, truths are shared,
A kinship, sacred, deeply bared.

Streams that flow with life and blood,
Carry whispers, a gentle flood,
Connecting minds and souls alike,
In the twilight and dawn’s first light.

Feet that tread on mossy ground,
Feel the hum, the sacred sound,
Of nature’s breath, of life’s sweet kiss,
In this union, eternal bliss.

Together we, both leaf and bone,
Speak in languages of stone,
In the symphony of life and death,
Nature and humans share one breath.

At 36 years old, I feel healthier and more youthful than I ever have! Don’t get me wrong, I still have days where I have challenges with my body, but I’ve learned so much that I wish I knew when I was younger. Or maybe I did know, I just didn’t want to believe it or listen.

Our bodies are a foundation for the rest of our life experience. Our gut health is connected to our brain health. I’m not a naturopath or nutritionist, so I’m just sharing from my personal experience.

What I’ve eliminated or reduced:
- toxic oils that our bodies can’t break down easily (basically any oil other than coconut, olive and avocado)
- alcohol consumption
- pharmaceuticals (especially birth control)
- eating processed foods
- taking other people’s opinions or reactions personally
- emotional abuse towards myself

What I’ve included:
- listening to what my body is communicating to me
- strength training
- probiotics
- filtered water
- consistent time out in nature
- eating whole foods
- time for rest and recovery
- forgiveness
- following my intuition

There’s probably much more I could add to both of these lists, but these are the top ones that came to mind.

As we tend to the wellness of our mind and spirit, may we remember that our bodies are interconnected with these realms . Care for the body is care for the mind and spirit.

The clouds are sometimes so dense that we can’t see who we truly are.. and then the density lifts, revealing what was always there.

No need to be so hard on yourself for this.
Spiritual perfectionism is just another way the ego tries to strengthen itself.

May we learn to accept it all.. the clarity and the illusions.

Lately I’ve been discovering what’s been bubbling up under the surface of my volcano that I thought was just a mountain.

This inactive volcano in this photo is often covered by clouds. Today the view is clear, mirroring the clarity I have in witnessing my higher self as well. The part of me that isn’t caught up in the dramas of human life. The part that trusts the process.

Our human selves can live under a fog of illusion. Lava bubbling under the surface, waiting to burst out when there’s enough pressure.
When the lava flows, may we choose to witness the destruction and new creations with love. Intensity can be revealing. When the magma cools, there’s new land to walk on. Often the most biodiverse places evolve from what was seen as destruction when the heat was turned up.

It all has its purpose and place.

When I witness others explode, I choose to not take it personally whenever this conscious perspective becomes available to me.
